Home Performance Contracting Services

We are licensed and insured contractors. Our well trained crew has extensive experience in energy efficiency retrofit projects and is a vital part of the process that leads to quantitative improvement in your home's performance.

We offer free estimates to our Energy Audit clients as well as others seeking input for post-energy audit work or energy related remodeling and home improvement projects. Let us know how we can help.

Comprehensive Residential Energy Audit: as low as $350.00

Highly recommended to get the most out of your energy audit. An assessment of your home's performance, including analysis of your building envelope, insulation adequacy, air leakage, moisture, comfort issues, energy loss through air infiltration and duct work, and combustion testing. At a base price of $550, services include:

  • Blower Door Testing
  • Infrared Imaging Scan
  • Duct Blaster Testing, up to two systems*
  • Moisture Content (MC) Testing
  • Relative Humidity (RH) testing
  • System and Appliance Combustion Testing*
  • Physical inspection
  • Health and Safety Check, including ambient CO analysis when applicable
  • Same-day comprehensive written report, including photographs and prioritized recommendations based on analysis of your home's testing results, comparative study of those results, as well as your home's specific needs and optimal performance expectations.
  • Educational meeting to fully explain the report and recommendations.

Discounts

  • Discount $100 for homes without forced air, no Duct Blaster Testing required
  • Discount $50 for homes without gas or combustion appliances
  • Discount $50 for homes less than 1800 total (incl. unfinished) square feet

Additional Services

Depending on each your circumstances and the systems in your home, the following services are also available:

  • Additional Duct Blaster Testing - add $100 per system
  • Utility Analysis – add $25
  • Return on Investment Analysis – add $50
  • Consulting and Hourly Diagnostic Work - $75/hour

Travel Fee

  • Energy Check serves the entire New River and Roanoke Valleys and surrounding localities, Prices quoted for homes within 40 mile radius of downtown Blacksburg. Past 40 miles: add $0.85/mile, (all mileage in excess of 80 mile round trip).
